The Ministry of the Interior has granted a city fee exemption to the small Yeshiva schools, despite the fact that these schools are not official. The Yeshiva schools teach only religious studies, and spend no time engaging in core studies (subjects such as maths, science, and foreign languages). The Minister of the Interior, Eli Yishai, demanded that these Yeshiva schools be granted the city fee exemption in order to match their conditions to regular schools, which also enjoy a full exemption.
