Eli Simchayof (Shas), who is suspected of having accepted bribes in the Holyland case, has been tapped for deputy mayor of Jerusalem, under Nir Barkat. The appointment goes to a vote next Thursday, despite the fact that Simchayof has been suspected of receiving hundreds of thousands of shekels as bribes, in return for permitting easements in the Holyland case.
