According to Dr. Telma Biran, former Head of Nuclear Safety at the Soreq Nuclear Research Facility, the workers at the Dimona Nuclear Reactor were exposed in the 1970s to significantly higher levels of radiation than those permitted by law today.  Biran spoke in the framework of her testimony in a court case filed by 44 former employees of the reactor, who filed a case against the State of Israel, after supposedly suffering a long series of diseases due to exposure to radiation and chemicals.
