“We shall not allow the historic riots of 1929 to repeat themselves in the 2011 State of Israel. We are all for a tooth for a tooth, a march for a march. If they throw stones at us - we will return stones, if they declared war on us - we will return to them with war.” So said a spokesman for the Jewish settlement in Sheikh Jarrah, who talked about the tension and fear of violence in the neighborhood, towards the Palestinian call to the UN General Assembly, later this month. His colleagues agreed with him, and explained bluntly: ”Whoever approaches the fence - is considered dead.”
