Official booklet distributed at the last night’s Ph.D. degrees acceptance ceremony in Tel Aviv University, described two cases in which foreign students “did not get worthy hospitality.” Ministry of Interior refused Dr. Shoitzi (Sakinah) Hasgwa request to extend his stay in the country beyond five years, and he was forced to finish his Ph.D. in Japan, via email. The Ministry also did not approve the return to Israel of Dr. Redina Hadj’ivanovah, from the School of Chemistry, after she attended a conference in Europe two years ago, and she had to finish her doctorate at the University of Munich.
