According to a position paper of the national students’ union regarding the handling and prevention of sexual harassment in institutions of higher education, the law for prevention of sexual harassment is “only partially upheld”. The position paper further states that “in several academic institutions, a disturbing norm of silencing sexual harassment complaints has been established. This policy of silencing is manifested in the absence of transparency and the absence of enforcement with regard to the law for prevention of sexual harassment, but first and foremost in the atmosphere and feeling given to female students, and the manner in which students are encouraged or discouraged to complain.”
