The Knesset passed two bills in late-night final readings: the “Nakba bill”, which allows the retraction of public funding from groups that commemorate the Nakba [the Palestinian "disaster" of the creation of Israel, commemorated on Israel's Independence Day]; and the “acceptance committee bill” which allows small communities in the Galilee and the Negev desert to screen potential residents to preserve the “nature of the community”.
