The roofs of the mess rooms and classrooms in the tent city being built in the Negev to house African asylum seekers contain the hazardous material asbestos. This despite the caution on the Ministry of the Environment website that Mesothelioma cancer can be caused even by low to medium levels of exposure to asbestos.

Jajao Bimero, An Israeli student of Ethiopian descent, claims that he had been attacked with pepper spray and an electric shocker by a policeman in Haifa when he tried to assist a woman of Ethiopian descent who was being beaten by the policeman.
Military and Security Forces: July 7, 2012
Five Palestinians were wounded in a settler attack on the Palestinian villages of Akraba and yanoun. One Palestinian was stabbed in several places and was evacuated on a donkey since soldiers refused to let red cross ambulances come through. According to international activists, the soldiers prevented the Palestinian residents from putting out the fire that started in their fields as a result of the attack.

While the law for regulating Bedouin communities in the Negev is still in the process of preparation by Minister Benny Begin (Likud) and Knesset committees, and will probably be presented only at the end of the summer due to pending High Court of Justice pleas, the government is already preparing to implement it. A month ago the border committee of the Ministry of the Interior discussed the new borders of Bedouin communities in preparation for the new regulation – authorising some communities, and removing residents of others to approved towns. The EU has issued an unprecedented resolution calling on Israel to withdraw the Bedoin regulation plan, called the Prawer plan.
